Gas Up Your Screening Machine for the Job

Posted by Primer on July 22, 2008

Using a topsoil screening machine allows for savings of materials, but what many don’t realize is that these machines are powered by the same gas that runs our cars and trucks. Many dirt screeners operate on a gas engine requiring diesel fuel. With gas prices as high as they are these days, that may not seem like much of a benefit. There is the convenience, though, of using the same gas as for a truck since one does not have to go out and seek an additional fueling source. Just gas up the screener and start working.

Compost screens, such as the EZ 1200XL, are run by powerful diesel engines. Other models have choices of gas or diesel engines, with anywhere from 5 to 25 hp. This portable screener packs a pretty good punch for its size. With the non-hydraulic Kinetic Screen Drive, the screen power is increase relative to horsepower used. Also, less fuel is burned up for each relative measure of material screened, so using gas to power these machines is a pretty good investment. Just think, if the machine is being carried by a truck that also needs to fill up, then both the truck and screener can be gassed up at the same time.
